Ponstan Period Pain Relief 20 Capsules

Description:

Ponstan is used to relieve the symptoms of period pain and treat heavy periods.

It also provides short term relief of pain in conditions such as muscle and joint injuries such as sprains, strains, and tendonitis as well as dental pain.

Ponstan contains mefenamic acid and belongs to a group of medicines called Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (or NSAIDs). These medicines work by relieving pain and inflammation. Ponstan may help to relieve the symptoms of pain and inflammation, it will not cure your condition.

Ingredients:

Each capsule contains 250 mg mefenamic acid.

Inactive Ingredients: lactose, titanium dioxide, iron oxide yellow, brilliant blue, gelatin & carbon black. Ponstan does not contain sucrose, gluten, tartrazine or any other azo dyes.

Usage Directions:

The usual dose of Ponstan is 2 capsules (500 mg) three times daily with meals.

Your doctor may recommend a different dose. This may depend on your age, your condition and whether you are taking any other medicines.

Store below 30 degrees Celsius

Do Not Use This Product: - If you have a current or past history of stomach ulcer, bleeding disorders or intestinal disorders. - If you are allergic to mefenamic acid, aspirin, or other anti-inflammatory medicines. - If you have impaired kidney function, kidney disease, heart failure, or liver failure. - Right before or after heart surgery. - In children under 14 years of age. - If you are pregnant or trying to become pregnant.

Unless your doctor has told you, do not use this product: - If you suffer from asthma, high blood pressure, heart or liver disease. - If you are breastfeeding. Unless your doctor or pharmacist has told you, do not use this product if you: - Take other medicines containing mefenamic acid, aspirin other anti-inflammatory medicines, blood thinners, or with any other medicines you take regularly. - Are using an intrauterine contraceptive device (IUCD). - Have previously had diarrhoea when taking Ponstan.

Stop use and see your doctor immediately if you have an allergic reaction. Do not use for more than a few days at a time unless a doctor has told you to. Do not exceed the recommended dose. Excessive use can be harmful and increase the risk of heart attack, stroke or liver damage. This medication may be dangerous when used in large amounts or for a long time. if an overdose is taken or suspected stop use and ring the Poisons Information Centre (Australia 13 11 26, New Zealand 0800 764 766).
